July 4th should be about freedom, but right now, America is fighting a damn cancer — and it’s not just an American problem. When the world’s biggest economy and military power falls apart, the shockwaves hit everywhere. Including Europe.
Look, I’m an ex-pat watching this disaster from the Philippines, but it’s clear: when the US stumbles, Europe stumbles harder. The Netherlands, France, Germany — your economies and lives depend on what happens in America (Smith, 2023). Markets shake, supply chains break, and political chaos spreads like wildfire.
But this isn’t just about dollars and euros. It’s about people. The American people are hurting, and they need help — not finger-pointing or political games. Compassion at scale. Yet, the US keeps turning inward, ignoring its own sickness while dragging the world down with it (Jones & Keller, 2024).
Europeans might think they’re safe behind strong borders and social programs. Maybe. But the truth is, global crises don’t care about geography. When America catches cancer, the rest of the world feels the pain too.
So, on this day of American independence, remember: your freedom is tied to ours. The fight to heal America’s deep wounds is a fight for all of us. Because in today’s world, no nation stands alone.
Let’s stop pretending otherwise. Let’s start talking honestly.
