In traditional military doctrine, urban combat is three-dimensional: up, down, and sideways. Rooftops, basements, and every alley in between become contested space. What the RAND Corporation once analyzed to help U.S. forces subdue cities abroad, we must now adapt to resist fascist forces at home.

American fascism doesn’t roll in with tanks—not yet. It wraps itself in flags, files lawsuits, buys networks, and whispers laws into the ears of cowardly legislators. But when the crackdown comes, when MAGA paramilitaries march beside deputized local cops, and when your First Amendment is declared a “terrorist threat,” you’ll be fighting on the same three-dimensional battlefield they wrote about—only this time, you’re on the side of the people.

Dimension One: Horizontal Control – Streets, Routes, and Movement

Fascists need control of the grid: highways, sidewalks, intersections. These are the choke points for protest marches, worker walkouts, and food distribution.

Tactic: Mobility Disruption

  • Don’t gather in predictable places. Meet in motion. Rehearse moving flash mobs that break up before the drones arrive.
  • Control the intersections they rely on—economic flow depends on punctuality.
  • Use alleyways, underpasses, pedestrian walkways, and even food delivery routes for counter-surveillance and supply lines.

The battlefield isn’t just where you march—it’s how you move.

Dimension Two: Vertical Space – Rooftops, Windows, and Elevation

In urban warfare, high ground means surveillance and dominance. You can’t outgun them, but you can out-watch them.

Tactic: Eyes Above

  • Use phones, cameras, and binoculars to track fascist or police movements from rooftops and high floors. Live-stream. Archive. Geotag.
  • Elevate your resistance art. Banners from rooftops, drone-delivered fliers, or even rooftop light projection disrupts the corporate skyline with people’s truth.
  • Secure rooftop escape routes in dense blocks—get familiar with ladders, fire escapes, and balconies now, not later.

Height is advantage. Claim it. Don’t just be in the city—be above it.

Dimension Three: Subsurface – Basements, Sewers, and Data Underground

We live in the age of digital fascism. Suppression flows through servers, wires, and storage clouds. Underground, both literally and metaphorically, is where the resistance thrives.

Tactic: Digital and Physical Tunnels

  • Use encrypted platforms. Learn how to wipe devices on the move. The fascist doesn’t knock; it subpoenas.
  • Build your mutual aid from basements: not metaphorical ones—actual ones. Underground parking, back rooms, disused boiler rooms—these are your planning rooms.
  • Coordinate mesh networks for emergencies. Keep routers and power backups on standby. The moment may come when the internet is gone, but the fight goes on.

The lower level is often forgotten—use that to your advantage. Store, secure, and strategize where they aren’t watching.

Final Doctrine: The Urban Environment Is the Weapon

They think cities belong to them. That’s their fatal error.

The very density they dread—diverse, multilingual, crowded with poor and working-class resistance—is your ally. Urban terrain breaks up surveillance. Skyscrapers block radio signals. Every stairwell is a shield. Every abandoned building is a base. Every grocery worker, street vendor, and delivery driver is a potential ally.

And when the crackdown comes? You don’t meet them head-on. You disappear, then reappear. You don’t fight for one street—you fight for the whole city, on all three levels.

Because this isn’t just protest anymore.

It’s resistance.
