Since September 10, the American Fascist Party has gone on a feeding frenzy against the left. They’ve seized on their patsy, Charlie Kirk, elevating him as a martyr — their Horst Wessel. This isn’t mourning. It’s mobilization. It’s the use of death as propaganda fuel, and it has only one purpose: to sanctify their push to destroy political opposition.

We both claim to love our country. But the split is clear. Do you love the comforting myth, or the real America — the plural America that is messy, diverse, and in constant need of work? Patriotism isn’t cosplay. It isn’t flags turned into costumes or myths told as bedtime stories. Patriotism is service to truth. It’s showing up for neighbors. It’s the willingness to face what’s broken and fight to fix it.

The #Maybelastchance tag wasn’t just a rallying cry. It may have become prophecy. Every fascist surge in history has used martyrs — real or manufactured — as tools to silence dissent. That’s the moment we’re standing in now.

The question isn’t whether fascists will push harder. They already are. The question is what you, the reader, are going to do.

  • Fight or flight?
  • Knuckle up, or knuckle under?
  • Stand with your neighbors, or hide behind myths?

Tomorrow may be too late.
