Why We Must Guard Against Internal Attackers

Movements don’t just die from outside enemies — they get crushed from within. Toxic gatekeepers, ideological bullies, and power-hungry players kill trust, unity, and momentum faster than cops or corporations ever could.

Our Core Values on Resistance

  • Nonviolence is our preferred tactic — not a mandatory rule.
Peaceful protest is powerful. But when the ruling class blocks peace, resistance by any means necessary is justified.
  • Dissent and questioning are vital.
Movement health depends on open debate — not silencing or purges.
  • We reject ideological purity tests.
Unity doesn’t mean uniformity. Different tactics and voices make us stronger.

Warning Signs of Internal Sabotage

  • Bullying and personal attacks on dissenters
  • Demands for ideological conformity (e.g., “nonviolence only” zealotry)
  • Political power plays disguised as “leadership”
  • Silencing, exclusion, or “gatekeeping” behavior
  • Weaponizing identity or labels to shut down debate

How We Fight Back

  • Call out toxic behavior publicly, firmly, and professionally
  • Establish clear, democratic community guidelines and enforce them
  • Uplift diverse voices — especially critics and questioners
  • Use satire and irony to expose political bullies and purists
  • Document and archive sabotage incidents to keep the movement honest

Real Lessons from Occupy Chicago

Occupy Chicago’s promise died not because of cops or corporations — but internal sabotage by bullies and ideological zealots who silenced dissent and drove people away.

We refuse to let that happen again.
